ProfileIn team full of natural athletes, it speaks volumes for Christian Wilhelmsson that he is considered by his peers in the Sweden squad to be the quickest among them. “He is probably the fastest guy on the team,” said Swedish international striker Niclas Alexandersson. Wilhelmsson started out at second division Mjallby in Sweden before he moved to Stabaeck of Norway in 2000. He scored 25 goals in 84 games in the Norwegian league and also found the net against Anderlecht in a UEFA Cup match in 2003. That goal and his performances against them were enough to convince Anderlecht to bring him to Belgium, where he became a crowd favorite with his constant runs at goal. Alexandersson said: “I think because he plays in Belgium maybe he doesn’t get as much attention as some of our other players, but now the big clubs are beginning to hear about him.” Wilhelmsson made his national team debut 31 January 2001 against the Faeroe Islands, but he remained a peripheral member of the side until 2003. When he got his chance in pre-tournament friendlies before the 2004 UEFA European Championship, he opened more than a few eyes. National coach Lars Lagerback said of Wilhelmsson: “He is one of the best players in attack and in one-on-one situations. He is un-Swedish in his technical ability, and he is fast and strong. I think he is on his way to being a world-class player.” A native of Malmo in southern Sweden, Wilhelmsson is part of a new breed of players which include Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Kim Kallstrom, Johan Elmander and up-and-coming star Tobias Hysen. Wilhelmsson and Sweden’s other young guns have technical abilities which rival any nation. “That is what really sets him apart,” Alexandersson said. “He has speed and technique. He has really good confidence. He still has a few things to learn, but he has enough experience now and his way of playing is very exciting. “One day he could be a world-class player and the next he might be up and down, but his ability lets him balance those times,” Alexandersson said. “The guy can move… he’s that fast.”

 dit ben ik,ik voetbal al zo'n 12 jaar, eerst in menen, nu sinds 4 jaar in lauwewe hebben een tof ploegske die zich ieder seizoen in de middenmood nestelwinnen we is het feest, verliezen we, geen drama dan feesten we toch.getalenteert kan je me nu niet echt noemen maar ik hou van het spel en denk begod nog niet aan stoppen.ik ben al sinds jaar en dag fan van anderlecht, pride off belgiumvroeger was ik supporter van nilis maar sinds die noodgedwongen moest stopen had ik niet echt een favo speler tot wilhelmsson in anderlecht kwam spelendit is zo'n beetje mijn voetbalmicrobe kort samengevat
